Reliance Medical Veterans Event

Honoring Veterans at Inaugural Reliance Salutes Veterans Event

LAKELAND, FL. – On Saturday, Reliance Medical Centers hosted the first of a planned annual event, Reliance Salutes Veterans.

The outdoor celebration honored veterans and their families with free lunch catered by Veterans-friendly Mission BBQ, live music, and exciting giveaways at Reliance’s Lakeland Medical Center, with a spacious event tent and plenty of cooling fans.

Reliance was honored to have Margaret “Peggy” Brown as their Guest of Honor. Peggy is a decorated World War II veteran, having served in the Coast Guard, and at 97 years old, Peggy led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

“We are proud to host an event that has such a significant impact on our veteran community. Reliance Salutes Veterans provided us with the opportunity to show gratitude to our veterans while giving them a look into the option of elevated personalized healthcare that can mean living a happier, healthier life. If anyone is deserving a Personal Medical Concierge, it is our Veterans and Reliance provides that to every patient member as a complementary part of our care,” said Roberto Martinez, Co-Founder, and Co-CEO.

Since opening locations in Lakeland and Winter Haven in 2017, Reliance Medical Centers has shown their commitment to reinventing the senior healthcare experience by focusing on providing personalized, preventative care.

In addition to recognizing those who have served in the community, Reliance Salutes Veterans aims to raise awareness surrounding the high-quality, value-based primary care options that veterans can receive at Reliance, in addition to VA health care.

Dr. Carlos Romero, Co-Founder, Co-CEO, and Chief Medical Officer said, “Our goal is to enhance the health and wellbeing of our community members, and Reliance Salutes Veterans allowed us to emphasize the importance of excellent healthcare for our local heroes, many of whom did not realize that they could obtain additional quality healthcare at no cost to them outside of the VA. Veterans over 65 or disabled have Medicare benefits that do not interfere or cancel their VA benefits, but the majority of veterans do not know that, therefore they avoid getting their well-deserved Medicare benefits.

“We realized this was an ongoing misperception and took a proactive role in ensuring the community understands the enhancement of combining VA and Medicare benefits. Healthcare is very confusing, we continuously strive to simplify, educate, and improve the quality of life of Seniors.   We look forward to a tradition of hosting this event for local veterans every year,” said Romero.

During the event Saturday, attendees were welcome to learn more about the elevated healthcare offerings that they or their loved ones can receive through Reliance. The Lakeland Medical Center was also open during the event, offering optional tours for those who are interested in taking a firsthand look at the facility.

“Community is at the core of our company’s foundation in that Reliance Medical Centers was born in Polk County; Reliance planted roots, grew up here, and has thrived here. We owe everything to the people of Polk County who have entrusted us with their care. We know Polk County and we see our growth plans of new locations, additional team members, a growing roster of patients, and an expansion of services, all happening in and around the areas of Lakeland and Winter Haven. This is our neighborhood and the people here are our friends and neighbors. Being part of a happy, healthier community is a marker of our success,” said Romero

Martinez added, “Reliance is thrilled to continue connecting with the Polk County community through several upcoming events and initiatives. With our incredible partnership on Brain Health Research with the University of South Florida, Reliance will assist in building a local research presence in Lakeland and Winter Haven, allowing local seniors access to world-class care. In addition, Reliance is proud to be the top sponsor of the 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Lakeland, the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s research.”
